Introduction to Scientific Python


21-22 August 2018, Malmö, Sweden

This two day course is the perfect introduction to scientific Python for those wishing to use Python for data science!  The format will be lectures and workshops so that you will get the chance to try out everything you learn!  The focus will be on using Python to work with data - we’ll cover data manipulation with numpy and pandas and visualisation with matplotlib.

This course is intended to give you the skills you will need to get started with data science and machine learning in the future. Since a large part of the course is making visualisations you will get rapid feedback on what you are learning!

Scientific Python

At the end of the course you should be familiar with:
• How to manipulate data with
numpy and pandas
• Making convincing visualisations with matplotlib
• Using Python for matrix mathematics
• Statistics and random number generation with Python

The course will run on the 21 and 22 August 2018, 9am to 5pm each day. The location of the course will be:

Format of Course

This course is meant for those new to or with very little experience of scientific Python. Perhaps you do have experience with using Python for other things or work regularly with another language. Those new to coding are also welcome!
